Hello everyone! Jared Smith here with the Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, with a peek into the first part of next week as well.

Humidity continues its slow climb on Sunday as onshore flow from the Atlantic gradually sends dew points higher.

Most of us should stay rain-free during the day, though some guidance does show the potential for a few showers to brush coastal areas in the morning.

There is also the risk for a few pop-up storms, generally near I-95 in the afternoon, but the vast majority of the Charleston metro stays rain-free.

Temperatures head to the mid-80s after a mid-60s start.

As we alluded to earlier, dew points will continue to creep upward, generally remaining in the low 60s.

This will yield relative humidity values generally in the 45-50% range, still far from horrendous, but you might notice a little bit more sweat.

Looking ahead to Monday, a disturbance could bring a shower or storm to some of us during the day, but most of us stay rain-free once again.

The warming and humidifying trend continues, with highs reaching into the upper 80s to around 90 degrees on Monday afternoon, with dew points creeping into the mid-60s.

This warming trend will result in highs in the low 90s by the midpoint of next week, and we could flirt with heat indices beginning to get near 100 as well.

June 1st also marked the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season.

While we got through May without a preseason cyclone, it does look like it’ll be a busy season ahead when factoring in the number of named storms.

The good news is that we’re getting hurricane season off to a quiet start, and there are no areas of concern in the Atlantic Basin, and any tropical development is currently not expected for at least the next week.

And finally, a programming note.

While I’m expecting to do a forecast post, there won’t be a podcast episode on Sunday night, but never fear, I’ll be back with a look at the rest of the workweek on Monday evening.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for June 2nd, 2024.
