Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, and the rest of the work week, and a preview of a beautiful weekend.

And yes, it’s been a while.

Thank you for your patience as I’ve navigated some pretty tough waters over the past three weeks.

But it feels good to be back in the weather saddle, and so without further ado, let’s get into the forecast.

Wednesday will be another warm but cloudy day ahead of a storm system that will bring unsettled conditions on Thursday.

Temperatures Wednesday start in the low 60s, and warmed around 80 degrees in the afternoon with a decent southerly breeze.

The main weather concern for Wednesday comes in the evening, with another round of minor coastal flooding expected with a 10-24pm high tide.

Fortunately, this is late enough to keep the saltwater out of the way of the commute, but if you do have late evening plans downtown, be aware of the potential for flooded roads.

The showers and thunderstorms look to be a staple of Thursday’s weather as a warm front lifts north early in the day, and a cold front approaches from the west later in the day.

Thursday will expect a muggy start, with lows in the mid 60s, with showers possibly in the area for the morning commute.

We’ll stay unsettled and quite windy throughout the day, with gusts 30-40mph not out of the question, especially on bridges and overpasses.

And if thunderstorms can get organized within a well-sheared but questionably unstable warm sector, some pockets of wind damage will be possible.

A tornado can’t be totally ruled out either, but that looks quite unlikely at this point.

The forecast will continue to be fine-tuned throughout the day on Wednesday, and I’ll have an update for you tomorrow evening on where things stand with Thursday’s forecast.

Once we get through Thursday, Friday looks increasingly excellent.

Winds will remain elevated in the wake of the front as cooler and drier air moves in.

Expect lows in the mid 50s to yield to highs in the mid 70s in the afternoon, with cloud cover decreasing throughout the day.

This portends an excellent weekend of weather, with copious amounts of sunshine and comfortable, not seasonably warm highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.
