Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with the Charleston weather forecast for Tuesday, March 19th, 2024.

Temperatures more appropriate for January make a cameo on the first day of spring as a trough moves across the area.

Tuesday starts in the upper 30s, but thankfully elevated winds will keep the frost threat to a minimum.

We’ll warm just to the low 60s in the afternoon despite full sunshine, and for those keeping track at home, the normal high for March 19th is 71 degrees.

The chill won’t last long though.

The trough departs later Tuesday, and winds turn southwesterly at the surface to allow some warmer air to begin to move back in.

We start Wednesday in the mid 40s before warming to the mid 70s in the afternoon, once again under predominantly sunny skies.

A weak front moves by overnight, but we won’t notice it all that much on Thursday except for perhaps a few more clouds and high temperatures a couple clicks below where they were on Wednesday.

The next round of unsettled weather looks pegged for Friday and at least the first half of the weekend.

Low pressure will develop and traverse the Gulf Coast states, staying to our south and keeping us generally in the cool side of the storm.

Temperatures will top out only in the upper 60s on Friday as rain overspreads the area.

The low then looks to turn northward paralleling the coast on Saturday.

This could bring some gusty winds to the coastal areas and maybe even some surf issues as well, but exact impacts aren’t yet clear as there’s model discrepancies to work out.

So stay tuned, but the good news is that it looks like Sunday is going to be okay.
