Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, February 11th, 2024.

After reaching 76 degrees on Saturday, we’ll reach for the mid-70s one more time on Sunday before the next storm system arrives later Sunday night into Monday.

We start Sunday in the mid-50s, well above normal for this point in the year, and some peaks of sun should help us along into the 70s by midday.

Cloud cover should be on the increase in the afternoon, with shower chances increasing later in the afternoon and into the evening.

The best risk for rain on Sunday looks to be inland of 17a, and much of us could get the day in rain-free.

Still, it’s a good idea to have rain gear around after sunset just in case.

The only other issue will be gusty winds approaching 20-25 mph at times out of the southwest as warm and moist air continues to pump into the area.

Rain chances head up overnight Sunday and peak on Monday as the storm system’s cold front moves by.

We’ll be in the warm sector of the storm, evidenced by the fact that the morning low should be around 60 degrees when we wake up.

Breezy southerly winds will keep a feed of moisture throughout the day, allowing for numerous showers and a few thunderstorms as well.

A few of those thunderstorms could be on the strong side, damaging wind gusts and maybe some hail.

And wind fields are such that a tornado isn’t off the table if the atmosphere can become more unstable, but as always this time of year, the amount of instability that develops is the big if in this equation.

So stay tuned to forecast updates as we head into Monday, but for now, just get ready for what’ll be a lousy weather day, and if there’ll be anything more, we’ll let you know.

Rain departs by midnight Monday, and by Tuesday, we’re back in more seasonable air for mid-February.

There’s certainly nothing terribly cold.

Highs will top out in the mid-60s, and we’ll stay in that ballpark for much of the rest of next week.
