Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Thursday, February 1st, 2024, with a look at Friday and the upcoming weekend too! After a mostly cloudy and chilly Wednesday, that did indeed feature some light rain.

We’re back to sunshine on Thursday as high pressure returns to the area.

We’ll start in the upper 30s before warming to the low to mid 60s in the afternoon under predominantly sunny skies.

Groundhog Day is on Friday, but regardless of how visible its shadow is, it’ll feel spring-like as low as in the low 40s yield to highs in the upper 60s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.

A dry front looks to come through late, with the potential for an uptick in cloud cover, but little else.

Saturday starts in the low 40s, but we’ll run a little cooler in the wake of the front as high pressure to the north wedges into the area a little bit.

Expect highs to top out in the low 60s with primarily sunny skies.

We’ll get much of Sunday in rain-free, though clouds will be on the increase ahead of a storm system approaching the area from the southwest.

Low pressure traversing the Gulf will butt up against high pressure to the northeast, and that’ll pinch the gradient, especially later in the day into the evening, kicking up the winds a little bit, with some shower activity to follow primarily after dark.

Expect temperatures on Sunday to start in the low 40s and warm to the mid 60s in the afternoon.

The aforementioned storm system brings rain and gusty winds to the area for Monday.

Some of the rain could be heavy at times depending on the track of the low, so we’ll want to keep an eye on that.

Also, a northeast flow could make the water level forecast interesting, but right now it doesn’t look like coastal flooding will be a major concern, as we’ll be several days away from the upcoming new moon on Friday the 9th.

For now, stay tuned to forecast updates on what could be a soggy Monday.
