Hello everyone! Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024.

After an almost 15 degree warmup on Monday, we warm up a little bit more for Tuesday as high pressure continues to shift offshore.

We start Tuesday in the low to mid 40s, warming to the mid 60s under mostly cloudy skies with a few showers possible at times as a trough develops near the coast.

Rainfall amounts will generally be light, though we all know how it can get around here when it rains even just a little, so keep that in mind if you’ve got to commute.

The aforementioned trough turns into more of a warm front overnight Tuesday, lifting north of the area on Wednesday.

A few showers will be possible in the morning, but the bigger weather story will be yet another shot of warm air ushering its way into the area.

Expect highs on Wednesday to peak in the mid 70s, nearly 15 degrees above normal for this point in the year under mostly cloudy skies.

Thursday turns even warmer, with highs poking into the upper 70s.

While quite warm, we should stay out of record territory this go-around.

The record high on January 25th is 82 degrees, set in 1949.

Thursday looks predominantly rain-free for a majority of the day before shower chances start to tick up a little bit in the evening ahead of a front.

And said front gets nearby on Friday and helps kick shower chances up a bit during the day, and there may be some thunder too, but severe weather isn’t currently expected.

Temperatures on Friday start in the low 60s, right around normal highs for this point in the year, and warm to the mid 70s once again despite shower activity in the area.

We heap the warm and unsettled weather going into the weekend before a front swings through sometime Sunday, restoring order to the forecast on Monday with temperatures much closer to late January normals.
