Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Generally quiet, with a few light showers possible late
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Martin Luther King Jr.
Day, Monday, January 15th, 2024.
We get off to a seasonably cool start on Monday, with lows generally running in the upper 30s to around the low 40s closer to the coast.
Warm up nicely into the mid 60s away from the cooler coastline under partly cloudy skies.
Cloud cover will be increasing later in the day, but we will be more likely than not to get the daylight hours in rain free.
There is a slight chance of showers to develop around and after sunset, but those will generally be on the light side.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, we’ll be gearing up for a couple shots of rather cold air.
After a fairly seasonable Tuesday with a few more showers possible, we get the first shot of cold air into the area on Wednesday.
We’ll start that day around freezing, but with breezy westerly winds, the wind chill will feel closer to the low 20s, so dress accordingly.
Highs on Wednesday should struggle to the upper 40s despite almost full sunshine as cold advection continues throughout the day.
After a freezing start on Thursday, we get a brief respite from the chilly weather Thursday afternoon through Friday.
Another front moving by Friday, though, will usher in even colder air mass in for next weekend.
Right now, expect lows in the 20s both days, with low 20s possible on Sunday and highs only in the low 40s.
This could be a pipe-busting freeze, so stay tuned to forecast updates as we head through the week.
