Weekend forecast: Cooling off and drying out
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Saturday, January 13th, 2024, and the rest of the Martin Luther King Jr.
holiday weekend.
A cold front will likely have cleared the area by the time most of you are listening to this, and cooler and drier air will be blowing in behind it.
You’ll probably feel it if you step outside.
We start Saturday in the low to mid 40s, but the temperature curve will be stunted by the ongoing cool advection, leaving highs capped generally into the mid 50s despite partly cloudy skies.
Winds will be blustery in the morning, about 15-20 mph, but will slacken as the day goes on.
Sunday we’ll get off to a chilly start with lows falling to the mid 30s and perhaps even lower in more rural areas.
From there, temperatures will warm nicely to the low 60s under almost full sunshine.
A westerly breeze about 5-10 mph will persist, making the morning wind chill drop below freezing, but other than that, no concerns.
Should be a nice day.
We get off to another chilly start at Martin Luther King Jr.
Day, with lows once again bottoming out about in the mid 30s.
Temperatures return to the low 60s in the afternoon ahead of another storm system that’ll bring shower chances as we get into Monday evening into Tuesday.
However, we should be just fine for commemorations of the holiday during the day as long as this timing holds up.
So stay tuned to forecast updates just in case this changes, but don’t cancel any outdoor activities just yet either.
Once the front passes on Tuesday, much cooler than normal temperatures arrive, with a hard freeze possible Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
The good news is that we’re not looking at any severe weather for a few days, and that’s great.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for January 13th, 2024.
