Wednesday and the rest of the week: Gradually cooling down and clearing out
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, and the rest of the final week of 2023.
Rain will continue overnight Tuesday into early Wednesday before departing along with low pressure.
That should do it for precipitation for the rest of this year as the forecast looks dry through New Year’s Day.
Wednesday will be a mostly cloudy day, though we should see some breaks in the clouds at times, and it will remain on the warm side as well, as cooler and drier air doesn’t really start working into the area in earnest until the afternoon and evening hours.
We start Wednesday around 60 degrees, keep in mind that the normal high for December 27th is 61 degrees, and temperatures could reach 70 degrees in the afternoon for the final time this year despite all the clouds.
Thursday will feel noticeably cooler, particularly in the morning as low temperatures run generally around 50 degrees, some 10 degrees cooler than the previous day, though this is still well above normal for the end of December.
We’ll see a few more breaks in the clouds, allowing temperatures to warm back to the mid-60s in the afternoon, a couple clicks above normal for late December, but from there another cold front gets through, past dry, no rain with it, and that’s going to bring a chill back to the low country for Friday and beyond.
Temperatures on Friday start around 40 degrees, but will struggle to the mid-50s in the afternoon despite much more sunshine.
We start Saturday in the mid-30s, and once again struggle to the low to mid-50s in the afternoon.
And New Year’s Eve starts similarly to Saturday, with a slightly warmer afternoon in the mid to upper 50s.
Now as the clock strikes midnight and we ring in 2024, the weather looks generally quiet with excellent fireworks viewing potential.
It’ll be chilly, temperatures may be dropping into the upper 30s to low 40s when we flip the calendar, so keep that in mind as you plan any New Year’s outfits.
For what it’s worth, I’m just going to be in my pajamas at home.
As for New Year’s Day, it’ll be similar to Sunday, expect highs in the upper 50s after a mid to upper 30s start.
Our next rain chance could arrive overnight Monday into Tuesday, followed by a reinforcing shot of cooler air that will get 2024 off to a fairly chilly start.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for December 27th, 2023.
