Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24th, 2023.

It’ll be another unseasonably warm day as we rush to finish whatever last-minute shopping there is left before the big day.

We start Christmas Eve in the upper 40s to around 50, and warm back into the 70s in the afternoon under a mix of sun and clouds.

High pressure will be departing the area during the day, and this may lead to a few showers at the coast in the afternoon, but the vast majority of us look to remain rain-free through early Christmas morning, which should provide unimpeded navigation for certain sleigh aviators.

Showers look to fill in from south to north as Christmas Day rolls on.

We could see rain get a bit heavy in a few spots at times, but flooding doesn’t look like it’s going to be an issue.

There is a chance for some minor coastal flooding around the 6.30am high tide on Christmas morning, but right now the forecast keeps the water level below flood stage.

However, even just below flood stage we can get some saltwater on some of the more vulnerable roads, so keep an eye on that.

Thankfully, rain will miss out on this tide cycle, and widespread problems downtown are not anticipated.

Temperatures will once again run well above Christmas normals.

Climatologically speaking, we should be starting Christmas in the low 40s and warming to only the low 60s in the afternoon, but we’ll start the day in the low 50s on our way to highs around 70, even despite the rain.

Rain sticks around overnight into Tuesday ahead of the storm system’s cold front.

Low pressure developing along that front might keep some showers in play for the rest of Tuesday as well, but by Wednesday we’re turning rain-free and cooler as temperatures head below normal as we hit the home stretch of 2023.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for December 24th, 2023.
