Hello everyone! Gerrit Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Saturday, December 23rd, 2023 and the Christmas holiday weekend.

Unseasonable warmth continues heading into Christmas as temperatures will run well above normal through at least next Tuesday.

Saturday will feature partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies.

We’ll start the day in the low to mid 40s before warming to the upper 60s to around 70 degrees in the afternoon.

Sunday should run even warmer.

Expect temperatures to head into the low 70s after an upper 40s start under partly, but increasingly cloudy skies ahead of our next storm system.

Christmas Day is looking somewhat wet as showers look to overspread the area as Monday goes on, but it’ll at least be a warm rain.

Expect temperatures to start in the low 50s and max out in the low 70s in the afternoon.

The best chance for showers looks to be from about mid-morning on.

Rain might be heavy at times, but widespread flooding issues are not expected.

We will, however, be keeping an eye on the morning high tide as east to southeast winds between high pressure to the north and low pressure developing across the mid-south could turn a little breezy, particularly offshore.

This may drive tidal departures a little higher, but the current forecast is to keep the water level below flood stage.

That being said, the current forecast of 6.7 feet mean low or low water can still cause some saltwater to get on a few vulnerable roads, mainly around Lockwood and Gadsden Creek.

The good news is that the rain, especially the heavy stuff, should arrive well after this tide, though, and we are not by any means expecting a repeat of last Sunday.
