Friday's forecast: Warming trend continues for Friday into Christmas weekend
Hello everyone! Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Friday, December 22nd, 2023 and looking into Christmas weekend.
The warming trend has begun and it will continue on Friday as we should start the day above freezing in most locations for the first time since Monday.
Temperatures should bottom out in the mid to upper 30s before warming to the low to mid 60s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
Once again, there’s a shot at some interesting atmospheric optics as high ice clouds will be the primary driver of any sky cover.
We get even warmer heading into Christmas weekend.
Saturday will solidly top out in the mid 60s under partly cloudy skies, while Sunday should head into the upper 60s and maybe even flirt with 70.
This stretch of quiet weather will prevail through roughly Christmas morning before showers begin to enter the picture later Monday afternoon into the evening hours as a storm system approaches the area.
Temperatures in Christmas will run well above normal, likely peaking around 70 degrees, maybe even a little bit higher ahead of the rain.
The storm system will continue to have impacts on the area through Tuesday and maybe even a little bit beyond, so keep this in mind as you plan any post-Christmas travel.
The good news is that no severe weather is expected, so don’t worry about trying to drive through another nor’easter.
Stay tuned to forecast updates heading into the weekend and beyond for fine-tuning of the details.
