Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Saturday, December 9th, 2023, along with a look at Sunday as well.

Saturday is going to be the pick day of the weekend for outdoor activities, and it won’t be particularly close.

Expect temperatures to start in the low 50s, a solid 10 plus degrees warmer than we started Friday.

With ample sunshine, it’s just a few clouds should be around for most of the day.

There’s a small chance a shower or two could scrape the coast, but much of us get Saturday in free of rain.

Temperatures top out in the mid 70s, keeping us well above normal for this point in December.

Sunday is a decidedly different story.

A cold front will be moving towards the area, bringing with it unsettled conditions for much of the day, though it’s worth noting it might not rain all day either.

Off and on showers will be possible Sunday morning through early afternoon ahead of a more solid band of showers and maybe a few thunderstorms ahead of the front itself later in the afternoon into the evening hours.

Winds will be on the gusty side for much of the day.

Wind gusts 25-30 mph at times, with even higher gusts on bridges and overpasses as well as at the coast.

While there’s going to be plenty of wind energy available courtesy of a low level jet traversing the area, instability looks to be relatively tame, so widespread strong to severe thunderstorms are not expected.

However, one can never totally rule out a sporadic damaging wind gust in these kinds of setups, so stay tuned.

Temperatures on Sunday top out in the mid 70s once again after starting in the low 60s, which is within spitting distance of normal highs for December.

This warm air will be ushered out fairly quickly overnight Sunday, and will get into much of next week with below normal temperatures.
