Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Thursday, December 7th, 2023, along with a look at Friday and the weekend.

Thursday represents the lowest point in this week’s temperature rollercoaster.

Expect lows generally in the mid-30s across much of the metro area, with frost a pretty decent bet, so make sure pets and plants are inside.

And as high pressure moves overhead, expect temperatures to struggle to the upper 50s to around 60 degrees despite clear skies and plenty of sunshine.

Winds will be lower than they were on Wednesday at least, generally around 5 mph or so.

The chill doesn’t last much longer though.

We’ll start Friday in the upper 30s, but temperatures will warm to the mid-60s in the afternoon under a mix of sun and clouds as surface high pressure slips offshore and high pressure aloft ridges in overhead.

Saturday will run even warmer, with lows around 50 degrees yielding to highs in the low 70s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.

A nearby coastal trough might try to send some showers ashore, but the trend has been for Saturday to remain largely rain-free.

The solid rain chance arrives Sunday, with a fairly strong storm system and its cold front moving through the area.

Expect a band of showers and maybe a few thunderstorms to develop ahead of it and move through starting Sunday afternoon into the evening.

Heavy rain will be possible at times, and it’ll be windy too.

Expect gusts potentially pushing 30 mph.

And while wind shear will be plentiful, instability will not be, and so the risk for thunderstorms, much less severe weather, is very low at this point.

But we’ll keep an eye on this.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for December 7th, 2023.
