The week ahead: Mostly quiet to start; turning cold for mid-week then warm for the weekend with a scattered shower chance
Hello everyone! Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Monday, November 27th, 2023 and the week ahead.
After a very, very chilly Sunday, in which the high didn’t crack 50 degrees, temperatures should rebound into the low 60s Monday afternoon as clouds break up and some sunshine gets through thanks to high pressure building in from the west.
Said high pressure will act to really cool us off Tuesday into Wednesday, though.
We’ll start Tuesday in the upper 30s and will only warm to the mid-50s in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies.
And Wednesday morning could bring freezing conditions to the Charleston metro area for the first time this season, as skies go clear and winds go calm, allowing for good radiational cooling.
Highs on Wednesday will only top out in the mid-50s despite full sunshine.
High pressure will then begin to slide offshore Thursday, and that’ll allow temperatures to start to warm up, but we’ll start Thursday on the chilly side once again, think mid-30s and maybe another round of freezing temperatures for some spots, but we’ll warm to the low 60s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
We get even warmer for Friday and beyond as highs top out in the low 70s, but that’s going to come with increasing moisture and, alas, shower chances returning to the area for the weekend.
That being said, right now not looking for any complete washout of the upcoming weekend, just some shower chances that we’re going to want to keep an eye on.
Finally, minor coastal flooding will be possible with Monday and Tuesday morning’s high tides.
Expect water levels to peak around 7 to 7.2 feet around 7.32am on Monday and 6.9 to 7.1 feet around 8.17am on Tuesday.
Impacts should generally be limited to the most vulnerable areas of downtown Charleston, including the Fishburne and Haygood intersection, because of course, and as well as parts of Lockwood.
From there, astronomical influence is waning as we get past Monday’s full moon, and offshore winds will continue to knock departures down.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for November 27th, 2023.
