Tuesday's forecast: Seasonably cool with increasing clouds
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Tuesday, November 14th, 2023.
On Tuesday, we’ll be a seasonably cool day across the Lowcountry with reasonable amounts of sunshine.
We start the day in the mid-40s before warming into the mid-60s under partly cloudy skies.
A wedge of cool high pressure will keep northeasterly winds blowing in, and that’s going to help keep our temperatures down a little bit.
As moisture returns to the area later in the day, we’ll start to see an uptick in cloud cover, but we expect to get Tuesday in rain-free.
We will need to keep an eye on high tide on Tuesday morning as it could briefly reach flood stage, putting some salt water on the roads, and high tide is expected to peak a little after 8am.
Overcast will be the rule on Wednesday as highs top out in the mid-60s as the wedge continues to hang on.
Much of the day should be rain-free, though shower chances increase as we get into the evening hours.
The best chance of rain arrives Thursday as low pressure spins up near the Bahamas, flinging some warm and moist air our direction while a mid-level low traverses the Gulf Coast.
Showers will generally be scattered in nature, it looks like, and won’t yield much in the way of rainfall.
Thursday turns warmer, though, as the wedge begins to erode.
Expect highs around 70 degrees in the afternoon.
Friday turns even warmer, with highs in the mid-70s expected.
Few showers can’t be ruled out as low pressure pulls away from the area, though chances will be on the slight side in general and will run the highest closest to the coast.
We’re still on track to have a pretty good looking weekend in the wake of a cold front with temperatures in the low 70s and ample sunshine.
Finally, we continue to monitor an area in the Caribbean for possible tropical development later this week, but the front I mentioned earlier will take anything that develops well out to sea, so we’ve got nothing to worry about.
Just a few more weeks left in hurricane season.
Gotta say I’m not going to miss it.
