Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Monday, November 13th, 2023 and the week ahead.

Monday the 13th.

It sounds scarier than Friday the 13th, don’t you think?

Anyway, on to the weather.

Some sunshine returns for Monday as drier air helps erode the overcast that socked us in over the weekend.

This will help temperatures warm back to the mid-60s in the afternoon, some 10 degrees warmer than Sunday, but still a touch below mid-November norms.

We get a little warmer on Tuesday, though cloud cover will begin to increase ahead of a disturbance moving out of the southern plains.

Wednesday could flirt with 70 degrees, but cloud cover will continue to tick up and we could even see a shower or two late.

Then rain chances will peak on Thursday as surface low pressure moves south of the area, dragging a little trough to the north.

That’s what’s going to help kick off some of those showers.

Timing’s still up in the air, so rain chances do persist into Friday and early Saturday, though it does appear that much of the weekend will look quite good.

Temperatures Thursday get into the 70s, peaking Friday with highs in the mid-70s before a front knocks temperatures down just a little bit for the weekend, and Sunday looks like the pick day of the weekend right now with low 70s highs and plenty of sunshine.

Minor coastal flooding may be a concern with Monday morning’s high tide, which is set to peak a little before 730am.

It could be enough to close a road or two, particularly on the west side of the peninsula, but otherwise major issues are not anticipated.

We could see water levels approach flood stage Tuesday and Wednesday as well, thanks to the upcoming new moon and northeasterly winds driving water levels up even further.

Stay tuned for coastal flood advisories from the National Weather Service.

And finally, in the tropics, there is an area in the southern Caribbean that is increasingly likely to spawn a surface low pressure system later this week, and this may become a tropical cyclone as it moves northeastward towards Cuba and Hispaniola.

There’s certainly a lot of uncertainty around this system still, given that it hasn’t formed yet, but all indications are that this area will not be a concern for us here at home, and that’ll be thanks to the front that’s going to be coming through over the weekend.

It’s going to pick up the storm and take it northeast.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for November 13th, 2023.
