Weekend forecast: Cool, cloudy, with some showers at times
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Veterans Day, November 11th, 2023, and the rest of the weekend.
Our run of warmer-than-normal weather comes to a screeching halt on Saturday as chilly high pressure wedges in from the north.
Combine that with moisture running atop the wedge, and that’ll yield plenty of clouds and some showers at times.
We’ll start Veterans Day in the mid-50s, and with a cloud cover and rain, temperatures don’t look likely to get too much warmer than that.
If you hit 60 degrees, you’ll be lucky, and probably near the coast.
Showers look to continue overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
We will start Sunday in the low 50s, with temperatures once again topping out in the mid to maybe upper 50s in most spots, though it could be a little warmer near the coast.
We should see rain chances steadily decrease throughout Sunday as some drier air starts to work its way into the area later in the day, though overcast should persist.
By Monday, rain will have departed and clouds will break up some, though we’ll still only warm to the low 60s as the cool wedge persists.
We’ll need to watch Sunday morning’s high tide, which is forecast to peak just shy of 7am, for the potential for some minor coastal flooding, and coastal flooding may remain an issue as we head into next week too, as northeasterly winds help drive water levels higher.
Stay tuned for possible coastal flood advisories from the National Weather Service.
Finally, taking a look at the tropics, there is one spot in the southern Caribbean that is being watched for possible late season tropical development, but this does not look to be of any concern to us here at home.
Nineteen days to go before the end of hurricane season! Not that we’re counting or anything.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for November 11th, 2023.
