Hello everyone, Jarrett Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Halloween, Tuesday, October 31st, 2023.

Well folks, we did it again! For the second consecutive day, we tied a record high at the airport, as Monday’s temperature topped out at 85 degrees, and that ties the record set in 1949.

Changes are on the way, though, and they start on Halloween as a strong front moves through during the day.

We get off to another mild start, with upper 50s to low 60s across the area, and temperatures should warm to the mid-70s by midday, but from there, the front will get by, and winds will shift to a more peri-northerly direction.

Clouds will be on the increase throughout the evening, and we should get generally overcast by the time we go trick-or-treating, with temperatures generally in the upper 50s to around 60.

There is a small chance of a shower or two in the wake of the front, but generally speaking, much of us are going to be dry, and other than that, there’s really nothing spooky coming out from Mother Nature, at least, on Halloween night.

Now Wednesday morning is going to feel a lot different.

Temperatures are going to dip into the mid-40s, but the winds out of the north, which will be kind of gusty at times, will make it feel like we’ll be in the upper 30s.

Continued cold advection will keep high temperatures suppressed into the upper 50s in the afternoon, despite plenty of sunshine.

Suffice to say, it’s quite a big change from a couple of record-tying days, that’s for sure.

And Thursday could get off to the coolest start since late March, with lows potentially dipping into the mid-to-upper 30s, at least away from the coast.

Limited moisture is going to keep the frost risk to a minimum, but the northerly winds could make it feel below freezing, so dress accordingly in the morning.

From there, a warming trend commences as highs head into the low 60s in the afternoon, and Friday morning won’t be quite as cold as we start in the low 40s, and the highs top out around 70 degrees in the afternoon, plenty of sunshine throughout, and we’re going to keep that warming going into the weekend too.

Finally, we’re going to continue to monitor the morning to midday high tides for coastal flooding through Thursday.

Tuesday morning’s high tide, around 1026 AM, should top out around 7.4 feet, which should be high enough to close a couple roads in the more vulnerable locations in downtown Charleston.

Peak water levels will steadily decrease as we go on this week, as astronomical influences from the recent full moon continue to wane, and with any luck, this round of coastal flooding will end by the weekend.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for October 31st, 2023.
