Hello everybody, Jared Smith here with the Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, September 24th, 2023.

Just a quick one today to tell you that Sunday’s looking great.

Comfortable temperatures, at least in the beginning of the day, might actually get to the upper 80s in the afternoon, though the humidity is going to be low, so that will help.

Plenty of sunshine, maybe a cloud or two, but nothing really to write home about there.

Overall, Sunday just looks really good.

This mini heat wave, so to speak, is going to continue into Monday.

We could see highs approach 90 degrees Monday afternoon.

That won’t last long, though.

By Tuesday, we should start to see a little bit more in the way of unsettled weather, and then getting into Wednesday and beyond, we should see high pressure wedging in from the northeast, and that’s going to bring our temperatures down a bit, generally thinking around the low 80s or so each afternoon.

In the tropics, Tropical Depression Ophelia made landfall this morning as a tropical storm, strong tropical storm.

Landfall took place around Emerald Isle in North Carolina at around 6.15 a.m.

according to the National Hurricane Center.

Maximum winds on Ophelia was about 70 miles an hour around that time, so it was knocking on the door of hurricane strength.

Didn’t get there, but it was close.

As of the 8 p.m.

advisory on Saturday night, Ophelia was about 40 miles south-southwest of Richmond, Virginia, continuing to move north around 9 miles per hour, so it’s getting out of here, and again, improving weather from south to north as the day goes on.

Additionally, we now have Tropical Storm Philippe well out into the central Atlantic.

It’s very far from any land right now, and looks like it’s going to probably stay that way.

Forecast track takes it north of the Lesser Antilles and out to sea.

Let’s hope that forecast track holds, obviously, but so far so good with Philippe.

We’ll keep an eye on it, but nothing really to worry about right now.
