Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, September 17th, 2023.

The weather does a 180 for Sunday as high pressure slips offshore and a cold front moves in from the west.

Expect a much more unsettled day of weather as a result, particularly in the afternoon through the evening hours when the best chances for showers and thunderstorms will exist.

We start the day in the upper 60s as a warm front lifts north of the area as a wave of low pressure organizes along the cold front in Georgia.

This wave of low pressure moves northeastward throughout the day and should provide a focal point for some locally heavy rainfall at times across the metro.

Some spots could see 1-3 inches, and some sporadic flooding events are possible as a result.

There will also be a low end risk for some severe weather.

Shearer looks good, but the question will be if enough instability can develop.

If it does, there’s a chance for some damaging wind gusts in the stronger thunderstorms, and a rotating storm or two can’t be totally ruled out either as winds turn fairly well from the southeast at the surface to the southwest aloft.

Again, we’re not expecting a severe weather outbreak by any stretch of the imagination.

It’s very possible that most of you, or pretty much all of you, will not see any severe weather on Sunday, but it’s something that we’re going to keep an eye on anyway.

The rain should depart with the front overnight on Sunday, and will yield a few nice days to start the workweek before the next storm system affects the area for the second half of next week.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for September 17th, 2023.
