Hello everyone, Jarrett Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Saturday, September 16th, 2023, and looking ahead to Sunday as well because hey, it’s the weekend.

Saturday is going to be the pick day of the weekend as high pressure remains in control for one more day.

We start the day in the upper 50s inland to low 60s in the metro, with upper 60s to around 70 closer to the beaches.

Highs then climb out to the mid 80s in the afternoon, and with dew points mixing out into the mid 50s, that’ll make for some very comfortable air for getting outside under plenty of sunshine.

Take advantage of Saturday for your outdoor activities because we’re going to be turning unsettled heading into Sunday as high pressure slips offshore and a cold front approaches the area.

We can see showers as early as mid-morning, but the best chance for showers and thunderstorms arrives in the afternoon and evening hours.

Some brief periods of heavy rain are possible, and a possible wave of low pressure along the front might even enhance rainfall somewhere in the metro, so we’ll keep an eye on that as well.

Generally speaking, look for about a half inch to an inch of rain across much of the area, with locally heavier amounts.

As a result of the clouds and rain, temperatures are only going to top out in the low 80s, and while thunderstorms are possible, severe weather is not expected.

The front will clear the area late Sunday, and we’ll get off to the new work week with a couple days of decent weather.

Finally, the tropics remain busy as Lee heads to Nova Scotia, keeping our current risk high in the process for at least through Saturday, maybe even into Sunday.

Margo continues to wander in the North Atlantic, currently in the middle of a loop, as it might head towards the Azores as a post-tropical cyclone next week.

Finally, Tropical Depression 15 developed on Friday.

It’s headed northwestward through the central Atlantic, should be named Tropical Storm Nigel on Saturday, and should become a hurricane by next week, potentially peaking as a major hurricane.

It will have plenty of warm water to work with, generally staying northeast of cooler waters upwelled by Franklin and Lee over the past couple weeks.

15 may become an issue for Bermuda during the middle of next week, but it will not be a threat to the Lowcountry.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for September 16th, 2023.
