Wednesday's forecast: Shower and storm chances peak along with temperatures ahead of a front
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, as well as the rest of the workweek.
Temperatures and rain chances peak on Wednesday ahead of a cold front, which will stall out to our west during the day before moving by overnight.
We start the day in the low 70s once again, with temperatures heading into the upper 80s under a mix of sun and clouds.
Expect showers and thunderstorms to fire in the afternoon along the sea breeze and ahead of the front.
Strong storm or two can’t be totally ruled out, with damaging wind gusts the primary concern for any severe weather.
Very few of you, if any, will see severe weather, but more of us are likely to see heavy downpours and lightning, possibly during the commute.
As mentioned earlier, the front gets by overnight, but the air mass change won’t be immediately apparent.
We will run a little bit cooler and slightly drier on Thursday, though there should be enough lingering moisture for a storm or two to pop in the afternoon.
Expect highs to top out around 85-86 after starting the day around 70 degrees.
Now the real push of cooler and drier air takes place overnight Thursday into Friday.
We’ll wake up to mid 60s temperatures Friday, and cool advection via northerly wind will keep highs capped to the low 80s, with plenty of sunshine and low humidity for the rest of the day, making for a pretty fantastic day of weather to get out and about.
And we’ll keep this going into the weekend, too.
I hope you can take advantage.
Finally, there are no concerns for the low country out in the tropics.
Lee is kicking some waves our direction, and this will keep the rip current risk high over the next few days.
Margot is well out in the middle of nowhere, and a third area the Hurricane Center is watching has an 80% chance to develop over the next 7 days, but it, too, is way, way out there with plenty of time to watch it.
All in all, nothing for us to really worry about in the tropics right now.
Hopefully it stays that way.
But if it changes, I’ll let you know.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for September 13th, 2023.
