Tuesday's forecast: Warm and muggy, but changes are coming
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Tuesday, September 12th, 2023.
Tuesday will be another warm and muggy day across the area as we start the day in the low 70s and warm to around 90 degrees in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.
As we get into the afternoon and the sea breeze gets rolling, we should see some more showers and thunderstorms.
One or two could be on the strong side as we saw on Monday, but widespread severe weather is not expected.
Storm chances head up ahead of a cold front on Wednesday with the potential for a stronger storm or two in the afternoon and evening hours thanks to a decent helping of instability and shear across the area.
That’ll be something to watch, though a widespread severe weather threat is not expected.
Highs top out in the upper 80s on Wednesday, and that’s as warm as we get for the rest of the week.
Some moisture will linger on Thursday and that could bring us some showers and storms, but we’ll feel somewhat cooler and drier air behind the front as highs top out only in the mid 80s and dewpoints fall into the mid to upper 60s.
The real push of cooler and drier air, though, arrives on Friday.
We start the day in the mid 60s and top out only in the low 80s, with dewpoints falling well into the low to mid 50s with abundant sunshine.
And we’ll keep these vibes going into the weekend, too, making for some great weather to do some things outside.
I hope we can take advantage! In the tropics, Lee and newly upgraded Hurricane Margot continue to churn.
Lee will turn northward by Wednesday, and aside from a high risk of rip currents, we will have no issues with it as it stays well to our east.
Margot remains no threat to land as well.
There are two other areas to watch in the Atlantic, most notably a wave south of the Cabo Verde Islands that has a 70% chance to develop as it moves into the central Atlantic later this week.
We’ll keep an eye on it, but thankfully there are no imminent threats to the Lowcountry, and I’d like to keep it that way.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for September 12th, 2023.
