Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, September 10th, 2023.

Much like Saturday, we should see a scattering of storms on Sunday along with some sunshine.

We start the day in the low 70s and warm into the upper 80s in the afternoon.

And like Saturday, we could deal with some storms in the morning closer to the coast before the risk gradually moves inland throughout the day.

Some heavy downpours will be possible as well, so be ready for that potential if you find yourself out and about.

Otherwise, once the rain passes, we’ll see some sunshine as well, so not all is lost.

Not by a long shot.

In the tropics, Lee continues to hold its own against wind shear.

At 5pm, it had maximum sustained winds of 115mph, making it a major hurricane, a Category 3 storm on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale.

It should reintensify to a Category 4 during the day Sunday into Monday as the storm’s forward motion slows down, thanks to steering beginning to weaken.

By Wednesday, the Hurricane Center is forecasting a northward turn that would keep Lee safely away from our part of the world.

There’s still plenty of uncertainty with this turn, exactly where it happens is somewhat of a question, but guidance has been in lockstep on this turn, and continues to be that way, improving confidence in this scenario.

Still, rough surf and rip currents will become an issue possibly as soon as Sunday, and certainly as we get into the new week.

Otherwise, though, there’s no direct threat to the Lowcountry, and if that changes, I’ll let you know.
