Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Friday, August 25th, 2023, and the upcoming weekend.

Well, we’re back to the heat and humidity as humid air reasserts itself for Friday and the weekend.

Air temperatures will be heading up, too.

Highs on Friday will top out in the mid-90s under mostly sunny skies, while Saturday could see air temperatures in the upper 90s.

Heat indices will top out in the low 100s on Friday, but could approach the heat advisory threshold of 110 on Saturday.

A stray storm or two will be possible, but don’t count on that for any relief.

Sunday will remain on the warm side as well, with heat indices heading north of the 105-degree danger zone, but staying below advisory thresholds as scattered showers and storms develop in the afternoon and evening hours in response to a trough building back in aloft and a front approaching from the north.

Those pattern changes should keep our weather fairly active as we get into next week.

Meanwhile, in the tropics, Franklin continues to strengthen now that it’s back over water.

It should become a hurricane this weekend as it passes between the southeast U.S.

coast and Bermuda, enhancing our risk for rip currents as it goes by.

So just remember, even as the storm kicks up a little bit more in the way of surf, just be careful, because rip currents can be incredibly dangerous and even deadly.

Two other areas in the central Atlantic have a 50-50 chance or so of developing into tropical cyclones over the next week, but those areas do not pose any concern to land.

A third area identified by the Hurricane Center, currently roughly marked over Central America, may develop into a tropical cyclone as it emerges into the Caribbean and perhaps the eastern Gulf of Mexico over the weekend.

It’s not a slam dunk, that’s for sure.

Models are very split on just what, if anything, develops.

As of the 8pm outlook on Thursday evening, the Hurricane Center, for its part, believes there’s a 70% or high chance that something could develop over the next few days.

Right now it’s an area to watch, but nothing for us to worry about just yet.

If it becomes that, I’ll let you know.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for August 25th, 2023.
