Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Saturday, August 19th, 2023.

We kick off the weekend in increasingly humid fashion once more as moisture begins to return to the area after a brief dry slot on Friday.

Temperatures start in the mid-70s before heading into the low to mid-90s in the afternoon under partly cloudy skies.

Dew points will mix out a little into the low 70s, keeping the heat index capped around 100 degrees.

From there, a few showers and thunderstorms should fire along the inland moving sea breeze, but not everyone will see a storm.

It’s a similar story for Sunday.

Low level winds turn a little more onshore, and we could see an isolated shower or storm coming inland in the morning as a result.

Otherwise, expect another warm day with highs in the low 90s.

The onshore flow will knock air temperatures down a couple degrees, but dew points running a little higher will compensate, and that’ll keep the heat index around 100 to 101.

And once again, a few showers and thunderstorms should fire along and inland of the sea breeze as it presses westward in the afternoon, but not everyone sees a storm on Sunday either.

It’s worth noting that this might be some of the last rain we deal with for a few days as ridging in the central US builds into the area for the work week, which will send temperatures back into the mid-90s and heat indices back over 105 degrees for a good chunk of the upcoming week.

It remains to be seen whether heat advisory conditions return, so stay tuned for updates.
