Thursday's forecast: More showers and thunderstorms, but a quieter Friday awaits
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Thursday, August 17th, 2023.
More showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday as the stalled front remains to our west and deep moisture remains in residence for one more day.
We start the day in the mid-70s with perhaps a shower or two hanging around before a lull in the rain for a good bit of the day.
We should then see additional showers and storms fire in the afternoon and evening, with the best chances closer to the coast.
As Thursday goes on, we should see the deeper moisture start to strip out from west to east, hence why the better chances are going to be at the coast.
Rain chances wind down overnight Thursday and will yield a mostly sunny Friday.
Highs on Friday top out in the low to mid 90s, but the drier air will help keep heat indices a little more in check.
They should only, and yes I’m making air quotes, top out in the upper 90s.
Hey, that is an improvement, right?
The rain-free respite is short-lived as shower and storm chances return starting Saturday afternoon.
Off and on storms will be possible Saturday afternoon as well as during the day Sunday as a wave of low pressure moves by.
Temperatures will start in the mid-70s each day, with highs topping out in the low 90s in the afternoons before showers and thunderstorms tamp the heat down just a bit.
Overall, it’s not the best possible scenario for the last weekend before school starts, but it’s not going to be a total washout either.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for August 17th, 2023.
