Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Tuesday, August 8th, 2023.

It looks like Tuesday is going to be another hot one.

Expect to start the day in the mid to upper 70s, perhaps not heading below 80 near the coast, with highs expected to reach the mid to upper 90s in the afternoon as a cold front drives southeast into the area, before stalling out near the coast in the evening.

Westerly winds will keep the sea breeze reasonably pinned, but dewpoints ahead of the front should still run in the mid 70s, allowing heat indices to head between 105 and 110 degrees once again for many of us, with 110 degree plus heat indices and maybe another heat advisory possible closer to the coast.

Stay tuned on that.

As Tuesday goes on, we’ll be watching a thunderstorm complex move across the southeast as it makes a run towards the coast by evening.

Now the brunt of it looks like it’s going to stay south of the Charleston metro, though some showers and a few thunderstorms can’t be ruled out this far north.

The best risk for severe weather will be found in far southern South Carolina into Georgia, but a strong storm or two can’t be totally discounted, especially if the front stalls out a little further north and west than currently thought.

Stay tuned to forecast updates as the day goes on in case that severe threat ticks up a little higher, and otherwise, just make sure you have the rain gear handy, just in case a thunderstorm or two decide to sneak their way up here later Tuesday.
