Monday starts unsettled, but drier air filters in for mid-week
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Monday, July 31st, 2023, as well as the upcoming week ahead.
We get off to a somewhat unsettled start as a front meanders in the area on Monday.
A fair bit of Monday should be rain-free, allowing highs to head back into the low 90s, with heat indices approaching 100 degrees during the heat of the afternoon.
From there, expect showers and thunderstorms to fire around the sea breeze as well as around the front later in the afternoon and into the evening hours.
A few of these storms could be on the strong side, with gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning, so be aware if your Monday evening plans involve some time outside.
It’s a similar story for Tuesday as the front continues to sag south across the area.
We should see another scattering of afternoon thunderstorms, with highs topping out in the low 90s.
Somewhat drier air will begin to filter into the area, though, and dewpoints will only top out around 70-71 degrees or so, and that’s actually quite a bit lower than they’ve been lately.
It might feel almost pleasant outside on Wednesday as the front pushes further eastward, with It might feel almost pleasant outside on Wednesday as the front pushes further south, allowing 65-degree dewpoint air to move into the area.
Temperatures will warm to around 90, and there will be a chance for a stray afternoon storm, but other than that, it actually looks like it might be something resembling a nice day.
Heat indexes should only top out around 91-92.
That is the beauty of mid-60s dewpoints in August.
We’ll keep that vibe rolling into Thursday, though dewpoints look to start creeping back up a little bit, and highs only top out in the upper 80s.
Better shower and storm chances do start to kick back in for Friday and the weekend, and we could be dealing with 105-degree heat indices again by Saturday, so the bottom line is, enjoy the mid-week cool off.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for July 31st, 2023.
