Friday and the weekend: Tropical airmass keeps us warm, muggy, and showery at times
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Friday, July 28th, 2023, as well as the upcoming weekend.
We should see a decent mix of sunshine and showers on Friday as tropical moisture continues to filter into the area.
There is a shot we could see some rain near the coast for the morning commute, but the better chances arrive in the Tri-County later in the morning through the evening hours.
It won’t rain all day, but we can expect to dodge showers for a good bit of it.
We should still see highs peak around 90 degrees in the afternoon, and with dewpoints running in the mid 70s, we should see heat indices over 100 degrees once again.
As we head into the weekend, tropical moisture continues to funnel into the area on the west side of the Bermuda High.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast on Saturday, though once again we should not see a rainout at any one location.
Temperatures once again start quite mild in the mid to upper 70s, followed by highs in the low 90s in the afternoon.
Dewpoints in the upper 70s should yield heat indices approaching 105 degrees at peak heating.
We’ll see a return to a little more standard summertime regime on Sunday, with tropically enhanced dewpoints in the upper 70s lingering.
With less coverage of showers and thunderstorms during the day, expect highs to rise into the mid 90s.
And this, combined with the tropical air, should push heat indices well over 105, and approaching heat advisory levels of 110 degrees.
We’ll want to keep an eye on conditions to our northwest as well.
Thursday evening’s weather models want to push a thunderstorm complex into the area Sunday evening.
We’ll see how this pans out.
These are awfully tough to pin down at anything beyond a day or so out.
Stay tuned.
And with all that in mind, the bottom line is this.
The weekend is far from a washout.
We’ll just be dodging showers and storms from time to time.
Don’t cancel any outdoor activities, and be ready to bring them inside in case thunderstorms approach.
And if your outdoor activities happen to take place during the peak heat of the day, make sure you’ve got a shady spot to take breaks in, and plenty of water to lower the risk for heat exhaustion or worse.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for July 28th, 2023.
