Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Friday, July 14th, 2023, and a look at the upcoming weekend as well.

After a few scattered storms on Thursday, we should see another uptick in afternoon and evening storms on Friday.

Moisture will continue to improve and disturbances will be moving through the area thanks to trough digging and aloft.

It’s going to be quite steamy on Friday as well, with lows starting only in the upper 70s and highs topping out in the mid 90s.

This is in mid 70s dew points and you have heat indices getting close to 105 degrees at peak heating, maybe even warmer too, especially if the sea breeze moves by.

From there, showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the sea breeze, and a few of these storms could produce torrential rainfall in a short time, perhaps leading to some isolated bouts of flooding.

Frequent lightning is another concern, and there’s going to be the risk for the strongest storms to produce a wet microburst or two.

Generally a lot of water rushing to the surface causes some damaging wind gusts, and we’re going to find that typically around where outflow boundaries and the sea breeze collide.

Bottom line, stay alert to rapidly changing conditions.

We’ll basically rinse and repeat this for the weekend.

Heat indices will continue to tick upward as our air temperatures turn warmer, generally in the mid to maybe upper 90s in some spots, and mid 70s dew points continue.

Afternoon and evening thunderstorms will remain on the menu as well, with heavy rain and gusty winds remaining the main concerns.

Now it’s not going to rain all day at any one location, and it won’t rain on everyone every day either, but just be ready to bring those outdoor plans inside in case thunderstorms approach your location.

Remember, it can be clear above you, but if a thunderstorm is close enough, you can be struck by lightning, and thunder roars go indoors.

And that was Charleston Weather Daily for July 14th, 2023.
