Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Tuesday, June 27th, 2023.

There’s a chance your Tuesday may start with a shower or thunderstorm, but any precipitation is expected to be over by daybreak as we look toward a fairly warm and sunny day.

Drier air filtering in will keep cloud cover to a minimum, and highs will top out in the mid 90s as a result.

Thankfully, the humidity won’t be that oppressive, actually will be okay, dewpoints mixing out into the upper 60s in the afternoon, and that’ll help heat indices only get to about 96 to 97 degrees.

So it could be worse, and it will get worse as we get into the weekend, but Tuesday looks okay.

And we’re going to keep that going as we head into the meat of the workweek too.

Expect lows in the low 70s and highs each day in the low to mid 90s under mostly sunny skies through Thursday.

Heat indices will remain tame as dewpoints mix down in the mid 60s each afternoon, and deep west and northwest flow throughout the atmosphere is going to keep the sea breeze pinned to the coast during the next few evenings, and that’s going to act to keep that more humid maritime air closer to the coast, won’t have really a good chance to surge inland as we typically see on a summer day.

Now changes begin Friday though as we start to see more humid air begin to work back into the area.

Low 90s in the afternoon will combine with dewpoints in the low 70s to yield heat indices around 100 degrees, and these heat indices only get warmer as we get into the weekend, potentially touching 110 by Sunday.

Ouch.

I mean, summer was going to happen, and there it is.

Finally, the tropics are mostly quiet, though the National Hurricane Center will keep an eye on an area well to our east for the potential for Cindy’s remnants to regenerate into a tropical cyclone later this week as it heads towards Nova Scotia.

It’s got a low chance at this, around 30% as of the 8pm Monday outlook, and even if it does get back up and running, it will be of no consequence to us here in the low country.
