Friday & the weekend: One more unsettled day then a couple days of quieter weather
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Jarlston weather forecast for Thursday, June 23rd, 2023, as well as the upcoming weekend, and we’ve got some good news there.
We have one more somewhat unsettled day in store for Friday, with off and on showers and thunderstorms, before improvement arrives for the weekend.
There is a chance we may be dealing with rain for the morning commute, so be ready to allow for a little extra time to get to where you’re going.
Otherwise, it seems the best chances for storms will be found between mid-morning and evening as the blocking pattern we’re in finally dislodges, and the upper low that’s been bothering us opens up and pulls away from here.
Highs tomp out in the mid 80s, given expected cloud cover and the potential for ongoing shower and thunderstorm activity around the area.
The mid-level trough will lift out for the weekend, yielding a much more traditional couple days of June weather here in the low country.
Highs on Saturday will top out in the upper 80s, while we should get back to 90 degrees on Sunday.
Few afternoon thunderstorms are possible Saturday, but with drier air continuing to move in and a lack of upper air support, we should get Sunday in rain free.
It’ll probably be a good beach day too, so get ready for some traffic if that’s where you’re headed.
Finally in the tropics, Tropical Storm Brett is moving over St.
Vincent as of this recording, around 11pm on Thursday, and into a more hostile environment for tropical cyclone maintenance.
Wind shear will wind Brett down over the next couple days, and it is forecast to open up into a wave on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Cindy is formed in the Atlantic as of the 11pm advisory on Thursday.
It was classified as the 4th depression of the year earlier in the day, and has since been upgraded with 40mph maximum sustained winds.
It is expected to track northeast to the Leroy Islands, and is not expected to be a significant threat to land, staying relatively weak before encountering more shear that’ll end its run by early next week as it approaches 67 degrees west longitude.
And finally, the thing we love to hear.
Brett and Cindy do not pose any risk to the Lowcountry.
