Wednesday's forecast: Storms expected in the afternoon and evening, and a couple could be strong
Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Flag Day, Wednesday, June 14th, 2023.
After we stayed mostly on the rain-free side on Tuesday, storms look to return to the forecast picture Wednesday afternoon and evening as another disturbance moves across the area.
We start the day around 70 degrees before highs top out in the upper 80s in the afternoon ahead of thunderstorm development.
Once storms fire, they’ll move from west to east once again and could bring damaging wind gusts and large hail to some spots.
The best risk for severe storms appears to be southwest of I-26, but there could be sporadic severe weather anywhere in the Tri-County.
Of course, not everyone will see severe storms either.
Just keep an ear out for warnings and make sure you have a plan in place in case severe thunderstorms threaten your area.
Get inside, away from windows, and you’re going to be just fine.
And remember, lightning makes every thunderstorm dangerous, severe or not.
When thunder roars, go indoors.
A very gradual warming trend continues Thursday into Friday, bringing us back to the low 90s by the weekend.
Scattered thunderstorms will remain possible on Thursday, but diminishing upper air support will limit coverage and potency as we get into Friday.
We’ll stick with this fairly normal June pattern heading into the Father’s Day and Juneteenth weekend, with highs in the low 90s and thunderstorm chances each afternoon.
And that was Charleston Weather Daily for June 14th, 2023.
I’m Jared Smith.
