Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Thursday, June 8th, 2023, with a little good news for the weekend.

Well if you’ve liked the past couple nights of storms, you get one more round for Thursday before we get a little break.

Cold front will sag south into the area during the day, bringing with it another trigger for scattered shower and thunderstorm activity possibly as early as mid-morning, but more likely in the afternoon.

Temperatures will top out only in the mid-80s as opposed to Winday’s 92 degrees, though, thanks to the front and the expectation of convection in the area.

Once again, a few thunderstorms could turn strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail the main threats.

If you’re out and about, make sure you can receive weather warnings.

And remember, lightning makes all thunderstorms dangerous, severe or not, so when thunder roars, go indoors.

The weather turns quieter for Friday heading into the weekend.

We’ll start Friday in the mid-60s and only warm to the mid-80s, a couple clicks below normal for this point in June.

We’ll see mostly sunny skies with just a few clouds, though some haze from smoke being transported south from Quebec could still give the sky a milky appearance.

We keep the mostly sunny train going into Saturday, with highs topping out in the upper 80s after a cool start, relatively speaking, in the low 60s.

High pressure will then slip offshore, making for a more humid Sunday, with lows bottoming out just shy of 70 degrees, and highs topping out in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees once again, but with a little bit higher dew point.

We look to stay rain-free for much of the day, though we’ll be watching a front to the west as it approaches, perhaps bringing some showers and storms along with it late in the day.

However, the better chances of storms will arrive on Monday.

And as I mentioned earlier, smoke from the ongoing Quebec wildfires remains a big topic of discussion here in the eastern US.

So far, it does not appear that impacts here in the Charleston tri-county area go beyond the aforementioned milky haze in the sky.

Air quality should be generally ok here.

Go a little further into the Midlands and upstate though, and that will definitely not be the case with air quality alerts in those areas, as the smoke will be much thicker there.
