Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, and taking a peek at the rest of the week ahead as well.

Wednesday should hopefully be a quiet day both in the weather department as well as the unknown boom department, and no, we still don’t know definitively what caused a lot of y’all to feel that jolt on Tuesday morning.

The main story remains the unusual run of cool weather we’re seeing in the second half of May.

We’ll start Wednesday around 60 degrees away from the warmer coastline, and highs will only head into the upper 70s in the afternoon.

It’ll be under skies, it’ll have a mix of sun and clouds, with that cool wedge of high pressure remaining in force.

And overall, it should be a rain-free and quite pleasant day across the low country.

From there, northeasterly winds will start to pick up a little more as low pressure spins up offshore.

On Thursday, we could see a little erosion of the wedge near the coast that would allow for a bit more in the way of warming as well as the risk for a few showers later in the afternoon.

After another start in the low 60s, expect Thursday to top out in the low 80s.

Friday’s weather will hinge largely on the track of the aforementioned low pressure, which is still a bit up in the air.

Guidance is still somewhat mixed as far as timing and location, and so there’s still some kinks to work out in this forecast.

A track closer to the coast brings more widespread showers and vice versa.

Regardless, winds will continue to pick up, and it’ll be a breezy Friday across the area.

Gusts to 30 mph certainly appear possible.

Assuming cloud cover and scattered showers, highs should only top out in the mid 70s.

This stretch of cool weather will continue into Saturday before we start to see the patterns shift up a bit.

Summer fans, we’re back in the mid 80s on Monday and the upper 80s to near 90 on Tuesday, so hang in there, let the cooler weather fans have this for a few more days, you will get your due, I promise.
