Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with your Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, May 21st, 2023.

Now after a somewhat cloudy Saturday, scattered showers and thunderstorms return to the weather picture for Sunday.

We’ll start the day in the upper 60s to around 70, still a few degrees above normal for this point in the year.

Showers could spread into inland portions of the area a little after daybreak, but the better risk for more widespread showers and storms appears to be during the afternoon hours.

Now models as of this recording have been trending a little on the drier side across South Carolina, so it is looking less and less like a total washout in any one spot.

Still be ready to bring outdoor plans indoors on relatively short notice, especially if lightning becomes a threat.

Pockets of heavy rain are also going to be possible, but right now I’m not expecting widespread flooding issues.

But we’ll keep an eye on that just in case that changes.

Highs will top out in the low 80s before the front arrives.
