Hello everyone, Jared Smith here with the Charleston weather forecast for Sunday, May 14th, 2023.

We’ll get off to a warm and somewhat muggy start on Sunday, with lows bottoming out generally in the mid to upper 60s, warmest near the coast.

Now we should get the first half of the day in rain-free.

Highs will top out in the mid to upper 80s in the early afternoon before the sea breeze really starts to make inroads, and we could see a storm or two popping up as that sea breeze presses inland.

Now as the front gets closer to the area later in the afternoon, we’ll start to see the shower and thunderstorm chances begin to head up, and they’ll be peaking during the evening hours.

Storm motions will be southward and towards the coast, so be ready to head indoors if you have some late afternoon or evening beach plans, want to get out on the water, something like that, and stay weather aware.

Severe weather is generally not expected, but lightning makes all thunderstorms dangerous, so when thunder roars, go indoors.

Rain chances will slowly taper off through midnight as the front moves by and then stalls out to our southwest.

Now despite that frontal passage, we’ll keep showers and a few thunderstorms in the forecast at times pretty much every day next week, and I’ll have more about that tomorrow.
